"one of New England's first and brightest stars"
—Boston Globe

Her gorgeously poetic lyrics are wrapped around a solid bed of traditional & old-timey-influenced music, which is at once simple and perfect for conveying the mood and subtlety of her words." - Dirty Linen

Lui Collins established herself as a powerful presence in the folk community in the late seventies and early eighties with the release of her early Philo and Green Linnet recordings. For her 8th solo recording, Closer, Collins alternates original songs and poems, weaving an engaging and intimate tapestry. Plus covers by Patti Griffin, Harry Woods (“Red Red Robin”) and Cheryl Wheeler. Born in Barre, Vermont, Lui Collins began to play her first gigs in the early Seventies. Collins started out singing covers of Joni Mitchell and Joan Baez songs, but quickly started to include music that was written by what were then emerging artists, such as Greg Brown, Julie Snow and Stan Rogers. In fact Rogers, the late great Canadian folk singer, once stated "She sings my songs better than I do."

Anand Nayak: acoustic and electric guitars and basses, mandolin, banjo, shaker, harmony vocals
