"I am in awe of Karen's singing. Her voice is one of those rare gifts that make singing seem effortless" - Slaid Cleaves, Rounder recording artist
“Karen Mal 's songs are like the old time remedy that mixed honey and lemon....They are sweet without being precious and have a lasting bite to them that makes them both memorable and good for you. Add a voice to match, and you have a musical panacea, curing our ills and adding to the grace of living.”
- Michael Jaworek, The Birchmere
Karen Mal follows up her acclaimed Celtic collection, Dark-Eyed Sailor, with a new batch of original songs. Bill Small produced her third solo CD including Karen Mal’s award-winning songs “Suitcase Full of Memories” and “When I Was Three”. The title track was inspired by a 224 mile river rafting trip in the Grand Canyon in August, 2004. The Space Between also includes co-writes with the late Fred Alley, Jonathan Byrd, David Glaser and Steve Key, plus Rachel Ries’ “You Only” and a previously unrecorded gem from Jonathan Byrd, “White Cloud.”
